Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael B. Nadler Joins Stumphauzer Foslid Sloman Ross & Kolaya as its Newest Partner

Miami, FL | September 14, 2020 – Stumphauzer, Foslid, Sloman, Ross, and Kolaya have announced that Michael B. Nadler, a former Assistant United States Attorney, is joining the firm as a partner.

“Michael was a shining star at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and we’re thrilled that he joined our firm. Michael established his own niche, and brought national attention to the Miami Office, by leading high-profile, cross-border investigations that exposed foreign corruption and complex international money laundering schemes throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Central and South America.   Historically, those cases were only led by Main Justice, but Michael changed that whole dynamic,” said Ryan Stumphauzer.

“In addition to his vast federal prosecutorial experience, Michael is an experienced complex civil litigation practitioner from his years at Sidley Austin in Chicago and the Miami-Dade County Attorney’s Office. There are very few lawyers comfortable litigating high-dollar business disputes and high stakes criminal matters. Michael is one of them and our Firm and clients will be the beneficiaries for years to come,” said former U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Sloman.

Mr. Nadler brings to the firm a decade of federal prosecutorial and court room experience, having tried over twenty-five federal jury trials and argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. During his time as an Assistant United States Attorney, he led some of the most sophisticated and complex money laundering and foreign corruption investigations and prosecutions in the Southern District of Florida. Throughout his time at the U.S. Attorney’s office, Mr. Nadler travelled extensively throughout South America and Europe and developed close relationships with his foreign counterparts.

“I have had the privilege of knowing and working with Michael for over 12 years, at both the Miami-Dade County’s Office and during my tenure as the U.S. Attorney in South Florida,” said Wilfredo Ferrer, Executive Partner of Holland & Knight’s Miami office.  “Michael embodies the integrity and talent that are quintessential of the ideal attorney.  He has a first-class analytical mind and a good ‘common sense’ grasp of issues, a combination of skills not always present even in the best of lawyers.  Michael always displayed an extraordinary work ethic and quickly became one of the office’s rising stars and ‘go-to’ prosecutors.  As such, he was routinely assigned to some of the most challenging investigations and prosecutions.  Stumphauzer, Foslid, Sloman, Ross, and Kolaya are lucky to have him as part of their team.”

Mr. Nadler will concentrate his practice on counseling and defending corporations and individuals on a broad range of regulatory, criminal, and civil matters specializing on prosecutions and investigations involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, money laundering, healthcare fraud, securities law violations and white-collar criminal defense.

Mr. Nadler said, “It was an honor and a privilege working as an Assistant U.S. Attorney.  But I am thrilled to have this new opportunity to partner with this fantastic team of very talented lawyers at such a well-respected and prominent law firm.  The partners at this law firm have developed a stellar reputation in our community for being outstanding lawyers and people, and I am honored that they have invited me into their firm.”

Prior to his service with the federal government, Michael served as an Assistant Miami-Dade County Attorney at the Miami-Dade County Attorney’s Office where he represented numerous County departments. Earlier in his career, Michael worked in the financial and securities litigation group in Sidley Austin LLP’s Chicago office.
